We have an amazing Pack with a dedicated group of volunteers. We have also enjoyed more parental support than ever this year.  We want to keep on a roll and continue to build on the quality experience we have created for our scouts.

Summer Camping

Posted by mburden on Apr 1 2019 - 7:53pm
Welcome to April Pack 129!

No April Fool joke here, only 12 days left to take advantage of early bird registration for Summer Camp experiences here in the National Capital Area!

We've got some real interest in the District Day Camp, led by the Rattlers in Den 3.  Go Tigers!  I'll be reaching out to you soon to get organized.  Credit also goes out to increasing interest amongst the Webelos and a few Bears to attend the week long programs out at Goshen.

I was just out at Camp Snyder in Haymarket for advanced Outdoor Leader training and would seriously ask you to consider the "bite-sized" summer camp experience there from Friday July 12 to Sunday July 14th.  It's way closer than Goshen, they have great facilities, and your scout will get a great taste of what Scout camp can be like in just two days.   Further, the activities they do will provide credit for their next year of Cub Scouting!

So...don't forget to sign up soon!

Your camping proponent,

Brian Hoffer

Summer Camp - Expression of Interest

Posted by mburden on Mar 16 2019 - 8:48pm

In order to better coordinate interest in Boy Scout summer camping across ranks and dens, we have created two placeholder events on the calendar.

The first option is for day camp at Gunston Hall in Lorton VA.  More details on the camp, and this years theme "Beneath the Sea" can be found at gotodaycamp.org.
If you are potentially interested in participating, please register on our Pack 129 site:   Day Camp
This will help us get a head count and focus communication on families who are thinking about joining.

The second option is for sleep away camp at Goshen in Lake Merriweather, VA.  More details on sleep away camping can be found at:  gotogoshen.org
If you are potentially interested in participating, please register on our Pack 129 site:   Goshen Camping
This will help us get a head count and focus communication on families who are thinking about joining.

There's also a third option for folks interested in camping, but who don't have a lot of time! Weekend Resident Camp is your bite sized overnight camping program. Get all the elements of Camp in a high intensity fun filled weekend. Sleep in a camp tent, eat in the dining hall, experience a great campfire program from morning until night. More details on Weekend camping is at: https://www.ncacbsa.org/outdoors/camp-william-b-snyder/summer-programs/
The pack will be going the weekend of 7/12-7/14 for weekend camping. To RSVP, please sign up here: Weekend Camping
