Welcome to the Pack 129 website! Cub Scout Pack 129 is the oldest continuously running Pack in the city of Alexandria having been initially chartered in March of 1942 and in continuous operation since then by Westminster Presbyterian Church. Cub Scouting is open to boys in grades 1 - 5.  Boys can join at any time.

July Event Details

For those interested in staying in touch with the Pack over the summer, here are upcoming opportunities in July.

July 17th - 7PM - Alexandria Aces Baseball Game - Mann Field 3700 Commonwealth Ave, Alexandria, VA 22305
We did this last year and families had a great time. The Aces are a local college summer league team. Admission at the gate will likely be discounted for the Pack. There is also concessions. Incredibly affordable night out and the kids love being able to chase down fly balls.

July 23rd - 4PM - Leider Park Clean-up/Capture the Flag - 3002 Valley Dr, Alexandria, VA 22302
Brian Hoffer our membership chair and den leader will be on hand. Help keep Alexandria's cleanest park that way. Lieder Park is Pack 129's responsibility. Come for 15-20 minutes of clean-up, 40-45 minutes of capture the flag.

Registration for these activities is requested, BUT not required. Please register through the Pack website to give us an idea who to expect, but feel free to come at the last minute. www.pack129.us/home

Boys who attend one Pack activity in June, July, and August will receive the Summertime Achievement Award in September.

Also, as a friendly reminder, if you haven't done so already, please pay Pack 129 dues for the coming year. Payment is $50 before September 1st, prices go up to $70 after that. Payments can be made through Paypal, please direct your payment to bspack129@gmail.com.

All of these activities are optional, but represent good opportunities to stay engaged with Pack 129 during the summer months.

9th – Pack Hike
17th – Alexandria Aces Game
23rd – Lieder Park Clean-up/Capture the Flag

13th – Pack Hike
20th – Lieder Park Clean-up/Capture the Flag

For those boys who attend at least one Pack activity in the months of June, July and August the Summertime Achievement Award will be issued in September. June opportunities include the year end picnic (June 16th) and the PNats game camp out (June 24th).

Early-Bird Pack 129 Dues

Planning for next year is underway. We are offering an early-bird discount, if you let us know you are returning next year or join Pack 129 before September 1st dues are only $50. After September 1st dues are $70.

Returning - To let us know you are retuning, simply pay $50 to bspack129@gmail.com through PayPal before September 1st.

Joining – Boys who will be entering Kindergarten through 5th grade are able to join Cub Scouts. If you are joining, please pay the Pack through PayPal, but also email ssheather31@yahoo.com so that we can get you an application to get you registered with the BSA and the Pack. Please note for those who are joining there is a separate registration fee associated with the application which goes to BSA and not to the Pack.

Volunteers Needed

We are a growing Pack. That is exciting and we look forward to offering our boys an enriching experience. The entire Pack is run by volunteer leadership and parents are expected to be engaged in some manner.

We are in the process of recruiting for new leadership positions. The following positions are in need of being filled.

Lion Den/Assistant Den Leaders (K)
Tiger Den/Assistant Den Leaders (1st Grade)
Wolf Den/Assistant Den Leaders (2nd Grade)
Webelos 1 Den/Assistant Den Leaders (4th Grade)
Assistant Pack Committee Chair
Assistant Cubmaster
Hiking Coordinator
Membership Chair
Training Chair

There will be other opportunities to support the Pack and your dens during the scout year, but we’d greatly appreciate you considering stepping up and filling these needs. Picnic Details - RSVPs Needed

Pack 129 Families-

The year end picnic is just around the corner. Next Friday at 6pm at Ft. Ward Park we will have a cook out to close out the year.

We will also have a special ceremony to move the boys up to the next rank.

The Pack will provide the hot dogs and hamburgers, sides have been assigned by rank.

To have a count and a sense for which boys will be there for the scarf ceremony, please be sure to RSVP via this link in the next day or two.

It is VERY important that the boys wear their uniform including their neckerchief.

New Members Wanted! Scouting Info Sessions

Do you know a family interested in joining our pack?  We will be having two information sessions for prospective families to learn more about our Pack and Cub Scouting in general.  See details below:

What: Pack 129 New Scout Information Meeting.  Parents who are interested in learning more and registering for Cub Scouts should attend.  Boys are welcome to join for a fun activity!   

Who: Primarily rising Kindergartners & 1st Graders, but other boys and family partners in grades 2-5 welcome.  

When: Monday, June 12th, 6:15 to 7:15 PM and Wednesday, June 14th, 6:15 to 7:15PM 

Where: Fellowship Hall (under the main sanctuary), Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2701 Cameron Mills Rd.
